Magnesium Fluoride Windows

Magnesium Fluuride (MgF2) is transparent over a wide range of wavelengths, from 0.120 µm (vacuum ultraviolet) to 8.0 µm (infrared). Optical windows, lenses, and prisms are available and it is sometime used in optical coatings. MgF2 is tougher than CaF2 but is slightly birefringent.
